Open Migration: Polarised or normalised – the newspapers at the time of the refugee crisis

The article about media and the migration crisis published by Open Migration 8th April includes commentary from Nando Sigona as well as results from the ‘Victims and Villains. Migrant Voices in the British Media‘ research carried out by Heaven Crawley, Simon McMahon and Katharine Jones. The research shows the portrayal of migrants as either victims and villains in British media, which according to Sigona is caused by the treatment of the migration crisis as a means rather than an end, placing the issue on the same stage with the debate about UK’s role within the EU.
